Start With Praise

I’m sharing the blog today with Joy Moreau, Appalachian Division Coordinator for the Moms in Prayer ministry. You can read her full bio at the end of the post.

We don’t know what a new day will bring. We have plans and schedules for our time, but they can change in a minute. Often we have expectations of how the events of the day will work out, but we can’t guarantee things will go as planned. Each day we have work to be done. We want to make good use of our time, enjoy life and be productive. I know where my help for the day comes from, it comes from the Lord the Maker of heaven and earth. I look to Him to help me in whatever the day brings my way.

l start by reading the Bible, learning who God is. He is the One who will help me through this day and every day. No matter where I’m reading in the bible, it’s telling me the character and nature of God. The more I learn about God the more I can put my hope and trust in Him. I don’t have to worry or be afraid, He can handle my day.

Let’s look at a Bible verse:

My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2 NIV

From this I learn the LORD made heaven and earth. If He can do that and I believe He did, then He can help me. My help comes from the LORD lets me know He will give me help. He’s not withholding His help from me.

With this knowledge of God my trust in Him and my love for Him grows. Then praise overflows from my heart and I speak praise to Him. This is my prayer of praise from what I learn in this verse:

“I praise you Lord my Helper. You are Creator of heaven and earth, nothing is too hard for You. I praise You for helping me in all things. You are loving and kind to be my help.”

Hearing myself speak praise to God my Helper gives me courage to do the hard things in life. I’m not alone, my Helper is with me. He is my joy and peace.

I encourage you to start each day with praise. Look to God’s word and find Him.
